Early e-cigs mimicked cigarettes, keeping smokers in a familiar comfort zone as they transitioned to vaping. Before long, having a range of features became a bigger priority, and devices began to evolve stylistically. Box mods like the eLeaf iStick 20W prove the point, offering an unconventional shape but lots of power and control. This one is small, fitting easily in your hand, and for a box mod, it’s pretty slick looking too.

I explain why the Eleaf iStick box mod is loved by all vapors.

Using the iStick 20W
The Eleaf iStick 20W has been applauded by novice and seasoned Vapers since its introduction. The eLeaf iStick 20W is great for beginning and intermediate Vapers who are ready to move beyond the basics and begin customizing how they vape, but it also offers enough power and control to satisfy advanced users.
Five quick clicks turn the device on or off. Pressing the up or down arrow buttons increases or decreases the voltage and wattage incrementally. Adjusting one changes both, but if you have a preference about which one is more prominently displayed, press the power button three times to switch between the two voltage and wattage controls. You can also press and hold the down arrow to engage auto scroll, for faster adjustment, and then press the up arrow to stop.
TheeLeaf iStick 20W is very easy and straightforward to use. It supplies consistent power throughout the charge and produces clouds of thick, satisfying vapor. The one drawback is that the 510 threader is not spring-loaded, and it may leave a bit of a gap between the device and your atomizer.

iStick 20W Specs
For something that’s not too much larger than a disposable lighter, the eLeaf iStick 20W has an amazing number of features.
Battery: There’s a powerful, 2200 mAh Li-lon battery inside that will last all day with most settings. Consistent use of the highest settings will shorten the life a bit, but lower settings could stretch the battery life to a couple of days.
Threads: The 510 threads and Ego adapter lets you choose from a variety of your favorite tanks. Two channels are located on the top of the iStick which allow for air flow under your tank.
VV and VW: This little powerhouse has variable volts, ranging from 3.0 to 5.5V, and variable watts, up to 20W capacity, for some serious vaping.
Ohm Capacity: The iStick works with atomizers rated 1.0 to 3.0 Ohms.
OLED Display: OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, it is better than LCD, better than regular LED. OLED displays are sharp and easy to read, requiring no backlight and provides deep black levels. This display contains all the information you need, showing volts, resistance amps, watts and battery life in the basic display. It will also show you the seconds timer during each pull.
Pass-through Charging: You can still vape while the unit charges, but you will have to lay it on its side.
Protection: The iStick protects itself and you in a few ways:
- Short Circuit: The OLED screen displays “Atomizer Short” if the attached device short-circuits.
- Low Power: When the battery’s power falls below 10 percent, the OLED screen flashes the power symbol.
- Low Voltage: The device stops working and the OLED screen displays “Lock” when the battery level drops below 3.3V, indicating that it’s time to recharge. Once it rises to 3.65V, the iStick automatically unlocks.
- 10-Sec Cutoff: The iStick limits each inhalation to 10 seconds.
- No Atomizer protection
- Low Atomizer protection – Anything under 1.0 ohm.
The OLED screen also warns you if there’s no atomizer attached or if the one attached is lower than 1.0 Ohm.
