Dry herb vaporizers have taken a big leap forward in the past year as more individuals are exploring vaping herbs rather than using direct combustion. The VaporFi Atom Dry Herb Vaporizer is one of the most advanced devices we’ve seen for vaping loose leaf herb.
VaporFi Atom Dry Herb Vaporizer Review
Detailed review on the Atom and how to use.
Introducing the VaporFi Atom
Using a vaporizer isn’t a new concept. The first electric vaporizer was invented by Max Katzman back in 1926. You’ve probably used one a few times yourself to ease the congestion of a cold. Now, imagine taking the same concept and moving it from the nightstand to the palm of your hand. That’s pretty much what you get with the VaporFi Atom.
This device is extremely compact and can be easily carried in a pocket. It’s small size, however, is no reflection of its functionality. The Atom’s wattage, voltage, and temperature range are perfect for vaping dry herbs, and the materials used in the construction of the device include a 100% food grade mouthpiece. The operation of the device is simple thanks to single-click activation and motion sensing technology that allows you to shake the Atom and observe the current level of the battery via the intuitive LED lighting on the front of the device.
Anyone that vapes loose leaf herb knows that the heating setup is all important. Poor heating will fail to yield a satisfying amount of vapor. Too much heat can scorch the herb and render a bitter taste. The VaporFi Atom utilizes a ceramic chamber on the base of the device. Some dry herb vaporizers place the chamber at the top, but the Atom’s configuration makes for better airflow. The air path is Stainless Steel which also contributes to a purer flavor. Ceramics are also exceptional at heat retention and distribution, which means that the heat is being spread evenly and maintained across a greater surface area. That, in turn, means more vapor volume.
The Atom has a nice chipset which affords multiple safety features like overcharge and short circuit protection, and the battery is rated at a monstrous 3000 mAh capacity. This allows you to vape for a considerable length of time before needing a recharge. It also helps that cleaning the unit is easy, and VaporFi even includes cleaning pipes and a packing tool with the device.
Here’s a rundown of the Atom’s primary specs:
3000 mAh battery capacity
Multi-colored LED lighting for temperature indication
Temperature range of 360F-464F in three settings of 360, 410, and 464 degrees
Output voltage of 3.3-4.2v
Output wattage of 15w
Max operating current of 4A
Circuit, overvoltage, and overload protection
Motion sensing technology
Streamlined mode navigation
30-second standby shutoff
Heat ramp LED display
Food grade mouthpiece
One important note about the use of the LED lighting on the Atom. The unit uses different colors to indicate temperature settings and battery life. This is actually convenient when you get used to it, although that takes some doing. The diodes are pretty small and it can be hard to distinguish one color from another in bright lighting.

Operating the Atom Dry Herb Vaporizer
Here’s where things get a little tricky with the Atom. While the interface and operation of the unit are simple and straightforward, both of them revolve around the use of LED lighting to inform you about temperature and battery life.
The first thing you’re going to do is open the chamber at the bottom of the device and place your dry herb inside. Using the unit’s single button turns the Atom on and also allows you to cycle through the different temperature settings. The LED lights will inform you which temperature is being used. Purple means the unit is heating, white means it is ready to use, and blue, yellow, and red are assigned to the different temperatures. To determine battery life, all you need to do is give the Atom a shake and green, yellow, or red lights will appear to clue you in.
It sounds complicated, but it’s really not once you get the hang of it. The whole process becomes intuitive.
Pros and Cons
There is a lot to like about the VaporFi Atom but what we really appreciate is the ceramic heating chamber on the bottom of the device. The airflow is superior, packing the herb is clean and easy, and the heat distribution is perfect.
The biggest knock on the device is the LED lighting scheme for monitoring temperature and battery life. It can be mastered, but there is a little bit of a learning curve. Once you get it down, though, you’ll appreciate the simplicity of the setup.
Vaping can be a great way to use dry herbs and aromatherapy, but having a superior device makes all the difference. The VaporFi Atom delivers a generous amount of vapor on every draw, and the flavor is robust. From green tea to peppermint and lavender, the Atom vapes them all to perfection.
The Atom is the newest vaporizer from Vaporfi. It includes many new technological features such as baking oven in the bottom of the device and a shake feature to select the temperature settings. So far the reception seems to be pretty good and we found the device to be extremely well made.
- Bottom Heating Chamber
- Good Heat Distribution
- Superior Airflow
- Initial learning curve
- Cost prohibitive for some.
