In a vaping world where companies continually try to one-up one another with impressive new mods, the Kanger Subox Mini C is a breath of fresh air. Elegant and simple, this mod should have a strong appeal to those vapers who have been a little cautious about making the switch to a modern vaporizer. It’s user-friendly, comfortable to hold, and scores pretty high in the areas of vapor volume and flavor.

Introducing the Kanger Subox Mini C
Most of us have a few vaping friends that are still clinging to their old school vape pen like a lifeboat. They want to try a mod and all the advantages it offers, but they’re a little apprehensive about making the switch. The Kanger Subox Mini-C goes a long way toward alleviating those reservations. This device is sort of a throwback to the first mods to hit the market. It’s a no-frills device that performs like a big league rig.
Kanger has one of the better reputations in the industry for quality and performance, and they also specialize in devices that are simple to use. It’s pretty nice to see the company apply their skills to the creation of a simple box mod. You won’t find a lot of bells and whistles on the Subox Mini C. It has a rudimentary three-button interface and a vibrant OLED screen. The device has one mode—variable wattage. The power can be adjusted from 7-50W, and that is plenty of room for the novice to play with. In most cases, staying between 20-30W will yield the best results, but the Subox will support lower coil resistances at max power.
Speaking of coils, this unit is only made to support SSOCC. There is no temperature control support. The Subox reads the coil architecture and the wattage can be set accordingly. That’s it. All that remains is to hit the fire button and vape.
The kit comes with a Pro Tank 5 which boasts a threadless design that relies on o-rings to create a seal. The concept is cool and makes removing the top and bottom of the tank much easier for the beginner. It also makes the process of adding e-liquid and changing coils simpler. The tank holds a generous 3ml of e-liquid.
As simple as it is, the Kanger Subox Mini C delivers some intense vapor volume. Well, let’s put it this way. The newcomer to mods will definitely be able to notice a difference. While extreme vapers may throw some shade at the Subox’s clouds, the novice will be impressed. In regards to flavor, this device really doesn’t take a back seat to any other mods with comparable wattage. Draws are rich and robust.
Finally, something should be said for portability. The Subox is reasonably small. It is about the same size as the original Subox Mini from Kanger. It rides easily in a back pocket or a handbag.
The list isn’t long when it comes to the specs of this ultra-simple box mod:
- Variable power output of 7-50W
- Durable alloy chassis
- Supports SSOCC coils
- Requires one 18650 battery which is not included
- Pro Tank 5 features Pyrex glass and a top-fill, leak proof, threadless design

Who the Kanger Subox Mini-C is Designed For
The Subox Mini C is designed for those trying a mod for the first time, plain and simple. It distills the entire vaping experience down to its most basic elements. Hit the fire button and vape. This is a device that can help vapers decide if they are ready to make the full plunge and invest in a more functional mod. We’re guessing, though, that for many vapers this simple little rig will be enough. It will give them more vapor and more flavor than they are used to from their vape pen.
The Kanger Subox Mini C is affordable and just as simple to use as a vape pen. More complex doesn't always equal better, and even experienced vapers might want to consider getting one of these as a secondary rig.
